Welcome to North Hills
The North Hills planners are currently meeting with interested community members to get input on the design of a new proposed master planned community focusing on sustainability as well as health and wellness in Santa Barbara County, California.
North Hills will provide opportunities to enhance and enrich the lives of the residents and the region. The North Hills VISION is a Master Planned community, with a full range of housing options, including apartments and affordable homes for working families, in compact villages, where most daily needs are within walking distance of residences, reducing auto dependency. New medical facilities, walking paths and hiking trails, will enhance the health and wellness focus in this new community, where people desire to live, work, learn and play.
The proposed site is where two of the original Orcutt Hill communities were located, nestled in the valleys south of Orcutt between Highway 101 and Route 135. It was identified by the County of Santa Barbara as a possible site for urbanization over 25 years because of its disturbed land status and low agricultural value. The conceptual plan for the new mixed use master planned community is to make productive use of portions of an old oil site, no longer needed for oil development.
